GOODBYE INDIA... HELLO SINGAPORE

Tomorrow is my flight to Singapore..., and whenever Im alone in my room, I can't help but to make some retrospections about my life, works and achievements  here in India...

First and foremost, I'm gonna miss my desk in the office.., the Designer's Department, which is our room, where we frequently chat,as we do our designs,  share stories, eat MAGGI, munch on some KITKATS, have some "TSAAE" or TEA, as we enjoy the company of each other....I would definitely miss my  Designer Board, which I call my Designer's Diary, where I post some reminders, lists of works to be done, post some funny pictures and stuffs....I would certainly miss those peacock feathers which I placed in front of my desk....Oh my.. I love PEACOCKS...

THE "TURQ LEAF" COLLECTIONS

The "TURK LEAF" COLLECTION

I originally named this as the "Blue Stone Princess"...
Our production manager was busy packing the new collections that we 3 designers made for the meeting of the Middle East buyers....I listed my desired name for this collection on the front page of my design sheets..., She might have thought that I didn't give a code name for this as a referrence, thus she gave the name above,,,,

THE "ACACIA" COLLECTIONS

Originally, I named this as the "SAND FLOWERS" Collection...
This was one of our urgent  projects for the buyers from the  Middle East countries last December, 2009...

Our production manager was busy packing up all these items in her baggages which she has to take along with her in Doha,
the place where my boss currently stays...
They'll meet there.., and the next day, they'll be meeting up the buyers..,

Maybe she wasn't able to see the name which i placed on my design sheets.., so she she wrote "ACACIA" as a code reference on the tag card....

Undoubtedly,  this is a stunning design,  but I never thought that it would come out like this...
at first, i find  it DUMB to do such floral theme  for this cushion..., I could have made some pleat works instead....but looking at the fabrics that i have picked from the market, I think I really have to "echo" the floral design on this brown dupion.....

Another thing, we were asked to make 3 different kinds of cushion, one in basic at a cheap  price,  another one with some play of fabrics with some treatments, whether with embroidery, some beadworks, etc, but the  price must be moderate.....and finally, one as a full-beaded cushion...., yes.., a little expensive...

This cushion cover should have had swarovzki tapes on the edges of the brown striped fabrics... We were running out of time and these designs should be packed immediately... i wasn't also sure of the design at the center, i just asked the tailors to stuff it with polyfill and do the stitchings as seen on my design sheet.
After a few minutes, they showed it to me  and went to the "ardava" guys..., the ones who do the manual beadworks and zardozi  stuffs.... I asked some matching beads and  "cut dana's", as they call it..., and after a few seconds, i just decided to put cut danas in circles, also to conceal the stitch threads.......

The buyers liked the simplicity of the design..., some of them requested to make another full collection  out of this design...

I love making chair covers.... it's really fun !!! Whenever I do designs for these, I simply think of dressing up a princess....., and eventually, nice things come out of my imagination...

I just remembered, some buyers from Dubai picked this table cover design for some wedding or related functions... Our production manager asked me to design 2 more chair covers of different looks,  but will go with  this theme...

There should have been some cut danas at the flowers..., but they ran out of time...

Anyways.., to sum it all up... the feedback for this collection and the outcome of the meeting was REALLY REALLY GOOD...... All our designs were  all SOLD OUT....
Such a blessing..., and truly, one of a good ways to end up the year 2009...

THE "ROCHELLE" COLLECTIONS

***ROCHELLE COLLECTIONS***

Obviously, the name derived from the word "ROSE"...
I  can't think of any other names for it...besides, it's the first thing that came to my mind....soooo..., first thing's first....

This collection has been such a great hit eversince it was introduced to different buyers.... It has kept the production department quite busy for some months doing the whole collection in great bulks....

Raju and his friend doing all the embellishments for all our designs...

Some orders in other design concepts need to be postponed because the whole department was quite occupied, as urgent shipment was required....
This full collection was first ordered by the owner of a hotel here in India..., this is seen in his splendid  palace-like banquet hall , and is used mostly in some Indian wedding functions....
It has also been successfully marketed to  some prestigious shop owners in the Middle East..., that's our main market for our products.., and the response was really tremendous !

The designs of the  cushion covers above and below are re-arranged by our production manager to cut the cost...
The price of  my original design was a bit high for the cost target required by the buyers...

That time i was in my country for a vacation..., when I came here, they showed me
the finished products....

Im not ok with the leaves..., frankly,  the pointed edges of the leaves look too strong for me.... My original sample was more delicate-looking...

In my original design, the brown part was in the center, and  I used that swarovzki tape to hide the joints of the fabrics...

I looove this table runner.... this pattern was traced from my duvet cover design, of the same collection...

Anywaysss..., after taking another one good look at my entire collection, I think I'm ok with it....what's more important is that, it's still able to captivate the eyes of the beholder...

 THE ROCHELLE COLLECTIONS

These are my collections as seen in my design sheets....

I made a curtain, lampshade, diary, wall hanging.....
not included here are the pics of the duvet cover, tissue box, picture frame and jewelry box ...

A photo of my self, proudly holding my "BABY"
The background was in a little mess..., filled with carton boxes.... there's an on-going production going on....(but that's another story...lol ! )

this was taken in our SHOWROOM...

 ISN'T SHE GAWJEZZZZ????

THANKS FOR VIEWING...HOPE YOU LIKED THEM TOO....
BLESSED BE !!!(",)/

TABLE LINEN COLLECTIONS

CUSHION COVERS

OH...How I LOVE designing cushion covers...

BEHOLD MY "BABIES"... from different collections...

I luv this...i took an inspiration from the flowers that float in the water...the ones I often see in Spa houses.... I personally sew this for sampling... the tailors from our production department had a hard time making the right swatches for this...

This one was the result of playing with my boring reluctant hours... I saw this lovely tissue organza which , at that time was newly bought... I fell in love with the fabric.., i touched it and play my hands on it..I accidentally  pinched a portion and twisted it...and this was the result ..I  quickly called the Master Tailor and explained this design to him... after a few minutes, they showed me this =)

This design was for our Valentine Collection which were presented to the Middle East, US and European buyers... The inspiration was from the "roses and pearls" concept which I normally see in the weddings...

One of my pioneer works when I was starting my career as a Designer in India...

A brave designer must not be afraid to experiment new looks and get rid of the stereotypes...In the Middle East, the use of Dupion silks are popular ..., and honestly, I got tired of using them... That time I was badly missing my country ...so probably that inspired me to do an Asian theme for my design....I used jute and that light cotton fabric ( I forgot what it is called) similar to organza...and made a "Back to Nature" concept.... the highlight of this collection was the lovely sweet-scented potpourries.., thus calling it the Potpourri Collection... This was liked, surprisingly by  two of our main buyers in the Middle East... This design was also sent to Singapore...

This design is also part of the Potpourri Collection...
